Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers about sending large files online, secure file sharing, and using Realtime Sender effectively.
Getting Started
How to send large files online?
To send large files online, use a dedicated file transfer service like Realtime Sender. It's simple: 1) Upload your file (drag & drop or browse), 2) Get an instant secure sharing link, 3) Send the link to your recipient via any method. No registration required, and files up to 2GB are free. The recipient clicks the link and downloads directly - no account needed on their end either.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required. Realtime Sender works completely anonymously without registration, email verification, or passwords. This makes it faster and more private than services requiring accounts. Just visit the site, upload, and share.
Is it really free?
Yes, completely free for files up to 2GB. No credit card required, no hidden fees, no trial periods. We also offer premium options for users who need larger file limits or extended storage times.
Security & Privacy
How to share files securely?
For secure file sharing: 1) Use HTTPS-encrypted transfer services, 2) Choose temporary hosting with auto-delete features, 3) Enable one-time download links for sensitive data, 4) Share passwords separately from links, 5) Avoid public cloud storage for confidential information. Realtime Sender provides all these security features by default.
Are my files encrypted?
Yes. All transfers use HTTPS/TLS encryption (the same technology banks use). Files are also encrypted while stored on our servers. Additionally, we offer zero-knowledge options where even we cannot access your file contents.
What happens to files after transfer?
Files are automatically and permanently deleted after download or time expiration (typically 24 hours). We don't keep backups or archives. This temporary nature enhances security - your files don't persist online where they could be compromised.
Sending Files
How to send files without email?
Upload your file to Realtime Sender and receive a secure link. Then share this link through any method you prefer - text message (SMS/iMessage), WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, QR code, or even verbally. The recipient enters the URL and downloads directly. No email infrastructure involved at any step.
How do I send to multiple people?
Simply share your link with as many people as needed. Each person can download the file. For extra security, enable "one-time download" if you want only the first person to access it, or leave it open for multiple downloads.
Can recipients preview files before downloading?
Yes! For videos, images, and documents, recipients can preview the content before committing to download. This helps them verify it's the right file and see what they're getting.
File Size Limits
What is the largest file I can send for free?
2GB per file on our free tier. This covers most use cases: 45 minutes of HD video, thousands of photos, large software installers, or complete document archives. For larger files, you can split them into parts or explore our upgrade options.
How long does uploading take?
Upload time depends on your connection speed. On a typical 10 Mbps upload: 100MB takes ~2 minutes, 500MB takes ~7 minutes, 1GB takes ~15 minutes, 2GB takes ~30 minutes. Faster connections (25-100 Mbps) reduce these times significantly.
What if my upload is interrupted?
Our system supports resume capability. If your connection drops, you can continue uploading from where it stopped - no need to start over. This is especially helpful for large files on unstable connections.
Privacy Features
Is Realtime Sender anonymous?
Yes, 100% anonymous. We don't require email, phone number, or any personal information. We don't log IP addresses or use tracking cookies. Your uploads cannot be traced back to you.
What is a one-time download link?
A one-time download link works exactly once, then self-destructs. After the first person downloads, the file is immediately deleted and the link becomes invalid. This provides maximum security for sensitive documents - even if the link is shared accidentally later, it won't work.
How long are files available?
Default is 24 hours or until first download (whichever comes first). You can choose shorter times (1 hour, 5 minutes) for extra security, or longer times (7 days) for convenience. After expiration, files are permanently deleted.
